This publication was first issued in December 2010 and has now been updated to take account of recent changes occurring in this area.  As well as providing a policy overview to the recent development of Employability as a construct in HE, it discusses practical ways in which institutions can strengthen this aspect and includes a self-assessment questionnaire for partners to audit provision.

Using Existing Learning and Experience Towards New Front cover APELQualifications: A USERS Guide to Credit for Prior Learning through APEL and APCL

This publication has been prepared as a generic guide to the accreditation of prior and experiential learning – APCL and APEL. It is primarily intended as a user guide for students but will also offer useful information to university and college staff who wish to know more about the principles and practice of both processes. The guide covers how the processes work, outlines the benefits for students, institutions and employers and has an extensive FAQ section covering all major aspects of considering and preparing an APCL/APEL claim.  It also includes a user friendly glossary of terminology and some useful specimen pro-forma to help in preparing an initial claim.
