Welcome to our network of collaborative outreach in London

Linking London’s Network of Collaborative Outreach has been working with college learners and their advisers supporting them as they make decisions, apply and progress onto HE. We have been working with our HEI partners to delivery activities to learners alongside providing a network of support for advisers in all colleges in London.

We have developed an adviser website to inform, support and guide college advisers through all the different stages of the learner journey. The website HECAIL ( Higher Education College Advisers in London – www.HECAIL.ac.uk ) is regularly updated with news and current items of interest, as well as displaying key information to support the HE application process and beyond. We send out a regular email newsletter to accompany the site. We deliver subject specific workshops and events relating to all aspects of the student life cycle to further enhance advisers’ understanding of subject areas and issues relating to supporting learners as they make an application to HE. We have developed in collaboration with our university partners an online personal statement checking service for learners in London colleges, provide a single point of contact for all HE staff and produced a number of adviser and learner guides. Partner funding has enabled much more collaboration to a take place and innovative activities to be developed, including specific subject support for BTEC and Access learners and resources to support adults returning to study.

The national picture

Linking London’s network is one of thirty five local and three national networks that have been created across England to encourage more young people into higher education.  The whole scheme is managed by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and funded by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).

HEFCE produce regular update bulletins for networks and their partners to keep everyone up to date with the running of this outreach project from a national view point.

These bulletins can be viewed here.
