Sue Betts meeting with the Greater London Authority at City Hall
Following the distribution of our successful Impressions publication the network has received letters from several Ministers and from the office of the Mayor of London. As a result of this contact Sue Betts, Director, Linking London and Dean Pateman, Academic Registrar, Birkbeck, University of London and Chair of the Linking London Board, met with Catherine Glossop, Senior Policy Officer, Knowledge Economy & Higher Education to discuss how we can work together to increase opportunities for Londoners.
The meeting with the Mayor's office was very useful in terms of sharing experience, knowledge and priorities at the present time. Contacts for the network in terms of Apprenticeship working and in the area of entrepreneurial developments were provided. Sue, Dean and Catherine discussed the difficulty of planning in the current climate where much of the 'old order' is breaking up. Sue and Dean informed Catherine of our continuing efforts to make sure Linking London's Pan London work is joined up and informed. On a more pragmatic note the Mayor's office is keen to work with employers and schools where links with HEIs and FECs, are working. Catherine was also keen to know of any identified gaps and areas where the Mayor's office could prove useful to help further opportunities for Londoners. For more information please click here
