IAG Practitioner Group Meeting

On the 9th of June 2016 Linking London held its last IAG Practitioner Group Meeting of the Academic Year.

After a welcome from Andrew Jones, Deputy Director of Linking London, delegates heard from Chris Rea, HE Services Manager at Prospects, who gave a presentation on the importance of Labour Market Information for Graduates. Chris discussed Prospects’ annual report ‘What do Graduates Do?’, and the implications gathered data has for students. A roundtable partner update followed, where partners discussed and shared IAG related issues and examples of good practice. Topics included HE progression, outreach activities, GCSE retakes and employer involvement.

After a short break, Ben Rutter, IAG Partner Account Manager at the Student Loans Company, presented the group with a student finance update on late applications, the implications of the removal of the NHS Bursary, and provider eligibility requirements.

Kelvin Fawdrey, Senior Outreach and Engagement Officer, and Natalie Wignall, UK Recruitment Manager, both of LSBU, provided an overview of their university’s curriculum and outreach offer. Their presentation included information on subject talks, taster days, and their Extended Project Support Programme.

Andrew Jones closed the meeting with a summary of the past year’s IAG work-strand, and a partner discussion on Linking London’s draft offer for 2016-2017.
