Attendees from HE and FE heard from David MacKay, Head of Awarding Body Stakeholder Engagement, Pearson, who provided an update on current BTEC developments, with a particular focus on recent changes to the qualification. David explained that several courses have been temporarily withdrawn or renamed due to recent amendments to national requirements. David also discussed Pearson’s new extranet, and BTEC funding.

Partners then participated in a round table update of their current engagement with BTEC learners.

Andrew Jones, Deputy Director & IAG Specialist at Linking London, followed with a summary of key findings of BTEC learner progression from the Linking London Data Report. Andrew highlighted the importance of KS4 achievements in BTEC progression, and shared data on student numbers, attainment, progression and retention.
