Access to HE Diploma Practitioner Group Meeting

The first Access to HE Diploma Practitioner Group meeting of the academic year took place on the 14th of October. Marisa Castellini Curriculum Development Manager - Access to HE, OCN London delivered a presentation on Access to HE Diplomas. Marisa updated the group on learner numbers to date for 2015-16, regional data, QAA developments, areas of growth, the new RSciTech Scheme and dates for the diary. The latter included the forthcoming OCN London Access to HE Conference on the 4th of November.

Louise Andronicou, Associate Professor in the School of Law and Social Sciences, and Director of Recruitment and Admissions for the Schools of Law & Social Sciences and Arts & Creative industries, London South Bank University, then provided an overview of supporting Access students from a LSBU perspective, which includes their innovative Extended Support Programme.

A general discussion followed exploring key issues in relation to progression to higher education from Access to HE Diplomas as part of the round table update.

Attendees then heard about Linking London’s work to support Access learners, advisers and admissions. This was followed by a summary of the main findings of Linking London’s data report: Progression of College Students in London to Higher Education: 2007-2012 in relation to Access to HE Diploma students.
