Linking London IAG Practitioner Group Meeting

The first IAG Practitioner Group Meeting of the Academic Year was held on the 4th October. The event was highly attended, with over 25 delegates in attendance.

After a welcome from Andrew Jones, Deputy Director of Linking London, delegates heard from Trevor Bottomley, Employment and Labour Market Adviser at CLC Building Futures, who gave a presentation on the London Apprenticeship landscape. Trevor provided a policy overview, and shared national and regional statistics with partners.

A roundtable partner update followed, where partners discussed and shared IAG related issues and examples of good practice. Topics included unconditional offers, UCAS applications and outreach activities.

After a short break, Ben Rutter, IAG Partner Account Manager at the Student Loans Company, presented the group with a student finance update on the Financial Memorandum for 17-18, available resources and the removal of the NHS Bursary.

Lucy Jenks, Progression and Outreach Manager, and Helen Kempster, Careers Consultant, both of Goldsmiths University of London, provided an overview of their university’s curriculum and outreach offer. Their presentation included information on student recruitment, progression schemes and taster days.

Andrew Jones closed the meeting with a summary of Linking London’s IAG work-strand for Autumn 2016, and Emily Harber (NNCO Project Officer) updated delegates on our NNCO, and HE in London.
