Student Retention and Success Practitioner Online Meeting

On the 9th March, Linking London held the second Student Retention and Success Practitioner Online Meeting of the academic year chaired by Michael Hill, Assistant Professor in Learning & Teaching at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

After a warm welcome from Michael Hill, the meeting began with Jakub Kowalewski, Partnership Officer, Linking London giving the group an overview of ChatGPT in education including  

We then heard from two colleagues, Roland Daw, Senior Lecturer – Strategy and Entrepreneurship, from St Mary’s University and Matthew Jones, Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations,  from University of Greenwich who provided a summary of  their institutions’ approaches to ChatGPT.  

After a short comfort break, the group went into breakout groups and using Jamboard discussed how can educational institutions respond effectively to the opportunities and challenges offered by ChatGPT? The full discussion notes can be found on the Partner Area. 

Following this, partners were able to discuss about possible topics for future meetings and what issues would be beneficial for institutions to discuss further onTopics suggested were around evaluation and assessment design. 

The next Student Retention and Success meeting will be in the in the Summer term, Thursday 15th June 2023, 2-4pm.
