IAG Practitioner Group Meeting

The third and last IAG Practitioner Group meeting of this academic year took place on 9th May at Birkbeck and was very well attended with over 30 college and HEI partner representatives present.

The meeting began with a presentation by Clare Cozens, Relationship Manager (London Region), UCAS, who provided an update on the latest application and cohort statistics, UCAS’ work on student wellbeing and the new UCAS undergraduate AMS system due to be launched in 2020. Delegates were then given the opportunity to ask questions as part of a Q&A session.

A roundtable update then followed where partners discussed and shared IAG related news and examples of good practice. Topics included: unconditional offers, UCAS updates, higher/degree apprenticeships and forthcoming HE fairs/outreach activities.

After a networking break, the group heard from Ben Rutter, Funding Information Partners Account Manager at Student Loans Company (SLC). Ben discussed the application figures for this year and provided an update on student loan information and government policy decisions.

Following this, Andrew Jones, Director, updated the group on the latest Linking London IAG work and Emily Harber, Partnership Officer at Linking London, presented to the group on the latest higher and degree apprenticeship start statistics and the data from Linking London's latest bimonthly mapping.

The meeting closed with an interactive group discussion on the challenges in supporting college learners progress on to higher level learning and how Linking London and university partners can support colleges going forward.

The first IAG meeting of the next academic year will take place in October at Birkbeck, University of London - date and time TBC.
