HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting

The second HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting of the academic year chaired by Sue Betts, Executive Director of Linking London, was held on 6th February. The meeting featured a presentation from Scott Isaacs from University of Hertfordshire and Philippa O’Brien from Barnet and Southgate College.

This meeting took place after Linking London's HE in FE Research Group lunch meeting where the group discussed the future of the research group meeting and what next.

After a warm welcome from Sue Betts, Linking London, delegates heard from Scott Isaacs, Head of UK Partnership at University of Hertfordshire. Scott presented to the group on how FE can play to its strength in the current climate including some challenges for universities at the moment such as Brexit, BAME numbers and increased competition within the HE sector and how colleges can work with its university partners more effectively.

Following a networking break, a roundtable update then followed where partners discussed and shared higher education related news, recent Ofsted inspections, course updates and the new Linking London resources.

The meeting closed with Philippa O’Brien, Higher Level Skills Manager at Barnet and Southgate College, who presented to the group on an update and outcome of the QAA visit to Barnet and Southgate college.
