After a warm welcome from Andrew Jones, Linking London, delegates heard from Marisa Castellini, Head of Access to HE at OCN London who presented on the latest OCN London news and developments including updates on where they are with QAA and feedback from Access providers. Marisa also gave some highlights from the QAA report ‘Improving Social Mobility Through Access to HE Diplomas’.
Following this we had two college partners perspectives on teaching and learning during the pandemic. Firstly, we heard from Alison Stanbury, Quality Enhancement Manager at Morley College London who presented to group on Morley College’s perspective giving some background in context of the college, looking at the response of staff, students and AVAs including some student feedback. We then heard from Roslyn O'Garro, Access to HE Diploma Coordinator at West London College who presented on West London College’s perspective including how they prepared for the start of the academic year, post-Christmas and where they are now.
After short break, attendees then went into 3 breakout groups to discuss several questions around Access learners including topics around the impact of the pandemic on teaching, learning and assessment, sharing of best practise and how to better support Access learners. You can find the full write up of the discussion groups on our Partners’ Area.
