BTEC Practitioner Group Meeting

The meeting featured presentations from David MacKay, Head of Stakeholder Relationships (HE), Pearson UK and Andrew Jones, Director, Linking London.

The first BTEC Practitioner Group Meeting of the year took place on 31 October and was well represented with FE and HE partners present.

The meeting began with a presentation from David MacKay, Pearson, who provided an update on the latest BTEC developments and headlines from the latest HESA data on the progression of BTEC learning into HE.

Following this, a roundtable partner update took place where partners shared information on work with BTEC learners, news updates and recruitment numbers.

After a short networking break, the group heard from Andrew Jones, Linking London, who presented to the group on T-Level developments, sharing the latest on which colleges will be delivering T-Levels and also providing information on the transition programme for colleges who are not quite ready for T Levels.

Following this, Andrew Jones led a group discussion on ways in which to improve the best practise in providing information, advice and guidance to BTEC learners who are interested in progressing to HE. The group discussed students understanding better what course they are on knowing what specific units are needed with each course and looking at most popular courses in London to narrow down and do mapping.
