The second IAG Practitioner Group meeting of this academic year took place on 31st January at Birkbeck and was very well attended with over 40 college and HEI partner representatives present.

The meeting started with a presentation led by Joel Mullan, Senior Policy Officer, Greater London Authority, who provided an update on the Mayor of London’s Careers for Londoners Action Plan. Delegates then had the opportunity to ask Joel Mullan and Michael Heanue, GLA, questions about the Careers Clusters and Careers Strategy for London.

A roundtable update then followed where partners discussed and shared IAG related news and examples of good practice. Topics included: enrolment, UCAS applications, higher/degree apprenticeships and forthcoming HE fairs/outreach activities.

After a networking break, Jo Ind, Digital Content Designer (Careers), ScreenSkills, presented on the draft content for the collaborative, government-funded Creative Careers Programme delivered by ScreenSkills, Creative Industries Federation and Creative and Cultural Skills.

Following this, Emily Harber, Partnership Officer at Linking London, presented to the group on the latest higher and degree apprenticeship start statistics and the data from Linking London's latest bimonthly mapping.

The group then heard from Ben Rutter, Funding Information Partners Account Manager at Student Loans Company (SLC). Ben discussed the application figures for this year and provided an update on student loan information and government policy decisions.
