NCOP Update

During June we have been starting to focus on the planning for September onwards for our NCOP work. This has included developing a communications plan, planning activities to be delivered, curriculum mapping across our colleges and looking at developing a mentoring programme for the NCOP learners. We met with some of our college and HEI partners and have scheduled meetings for the Delivery Hubs, which will facilitate the mapping of activities from September onwards.

This month we also held a Linking London NCOP Steering Group meeting and attended the pan-London Management Group meeting. At the Steering Group meeting we discussed the second round of bids from our partners and are now finalising these ready for delivery from September onwards. We were pleased to have received 9 bids in total from our partners, which will help us to deliver a varied and valuable programme of activities for our learners across the 13 wards. At the Management Group meeting we heard updates from Aimhigher London South and AccessHE, and made progress with our data sharing and evaluation procedures.

We also supported a Next Steps event for Level 3 students and their parents at Havering College in June, where there were talks on the full range of progression options, labour market information and representatives from relevant bodies also had stalls. The event was well attended and we are looking forward to supporting future events like this.

We have had a busy month in terms of staffing, as we said goodbye to Emily Harber who has now gone on maternity leave, and we have also been busy recruiting for an NCOP Programme Officer, a Graduate Intern and an Engagement Officer, who will be based in Barking & Dagenham College and Havering College. London South East Colleges (LSEC) are also recruiting for an NCOP Engagement Officer, the link to which can be found here, please do pass on to anyone you know who may be interested.

If you are interested in finding out more about Linking London’s NCOP and how you can get involved, please do get in touch with our Programme Coordinator, Helen Robinson. Please do also keep up to date with our NCOP by looking at our NCOP tab on the Linking London website.
