IAG Practitioner Group Meeting
The meeting began with a presentation led by Annie Dobson, IAG Officer, Student Information (External Relations) OfS, who provided an overview and an update on what OfS does including their IAG strategy, Discover Uni and the next steps for 2020. Delegates then had a group discussion on how to help current and previous students and what OfS could do for advisors to help them in their roles.
Following this, a roundtable partner update then took place, Linking London gave an update on the resources available, HE in London and also the NCOP Outreach Hub. Partners discussed and shared IAG related news, upcoming events such as the North London HE fair and STEM festival at Middlesex University. We also welcomed our newest partner, The College of the Humanities.
After a networking break, the group then heard from Sophie Baldry, Senior Marketing Executive, Rate My Apprenticeships who presented an overview including some marketing insights, employers' perspectives, looking at intermediate, advanced, higher and degree apprenticeships and how RMA can help students. This was followed by a group discussion on how we can better inform students and support them to progress onto higher level apprenticeships going forward.
Linking London then gave an update on Higher and Degree Apprenticeship Opportunities in Greater London including recent mapping done and what information was found.
Lastly, the group heard from Ben Rutter, Funding Information Partners Account Manager, Student Loans Company. Ben discussed the new NHSBASA Maintenance Grant, application figures for this year, useful resources and provided an update on student loan information.
The next IAG meeting of the academic year will take place on 23rd April, 2-5pm at Birkbeck, University of London.
