London NCOP-Linking London Update

In Hub 1, year 2 learners at Havering College and Barking & Dagenham College have started to receive their first activities of the new academic year.

This has been a mix of HE Myth Busting and Personal Statement sessions delivered by Michelle Giordmaina from Linking London and Portfolio Advice sessions from Ravensbourne University. On 26th September the new FutureFest programme run by Linking London launched in Havering College. FutureFest is a programme of ‘life masterclasses’ including careers advice, talks from inspirational speakers and a number of external trips, and was developed in response to feedback from our delivery last year. Although the turnout at the launch event was lower than expected we hope to see more learners at our next events as word of the great opportunity gets around!

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Suzanne Humphreys who will work as an NCOP Engagement Officer at Havering Sixth Form College. Suzanne will start working with us at the end of October and we are looking forward to planning an innovative programme of work for ward learners.

In Hub 2, Jack Spear has joined us as to coordinate the delivery of the i-Higher Education project in London South East Colleges (LSEC) and is hoping to start working with students in the next few weeks. In Hub 3, Mandip Birk is awaiting final data from South Thames Colleges Group but will hopefully start working with students in the next few weeks as well. Both Mandip and Jack have been working from the Linking London office 1 day a week as part of a new approach to enhance collaboration between our college and HEI partners. Part-time NCOP staff from our partner colleges and HEI’s will work from the Linking London office once a month and full-time staff will work from our office once a week. This allows greater communication and opportunities to collaborate on projects.

If you are interested in finding out more about Linking London’s NCOP and how you can get involved, please do get in touch with our Programme Coordinator, . Please do also keep up to date with our NCOP by looking at our NCOP tab on the Linking London website.
