HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting

The third and last HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting of the academic year chaired by David Hillier, former Assistant Principal - HE and Business Development at South Thames Colleges Group, was held on the 20th May.

After a warm welcome from David Hillier, the meeting began with a presentation from Rebecca Mameli, Head of Higher Education Research and Qualifications at Pearson who presented to the group on the future for the HNC/HND space including the higher technical agenda, higher technical qualifications approval process and what the impact might be for the HNC/HND space. 

A partner round table update then followed where our partners gave updates on HE in FE provision and related issues, the discussion included preparation for the new academic year, lesson delivery and new qualifications. 

Delegates then heard from Emily Harber, Partnership Officer at Linking London who gave an update to the group on Linking London’s HE in FE prospectus including an overview of the mapping found of HE in FE across London and the next steps including a possible student version of the guide. 

Lastly, Arti Saraswat, Senior Policy Manage for Higher Education at the Association of Colleges presented to the group reflecting on college HE in 2020/21 and looking forward to the future including delivery during the pandemic, OfS regulation and consultations and what the next steps are.
