London NCOP - Linking London Update

Our delivery has been ramping up over the past month with 124 ward learners engaged in November alone. We are currently working hard to get all of these activities onto HEAT (Higher Education Access Tracker) to have our latest stats. We are also maintaining an impressive 94% satisfaction rating for our activities.

In Hub 1, students have benefitted from a huge amount of 1-2-1 support from our engagement officers and partner universities. Ravensbourne university London and Middlesex University London have been providing students with in depth HE and subject specific support. Due to high numbers of ward learners in Havering FE, we are currently recruiting for an NCOP Support Officer to work 2 days a week in the college. Additionally, University Of Arts London’s creative residencies projects have now launched in Havering FE and Havering Sixth Form as well as Coulsdon College in Hub 2.

Also in Hub 2, Coulsdon Sixth Form College students enjoyed a trip to Skills for London. We are planning to launch St Mary’s University London’s student skills project in Richmond upon Thames College by January 2020 too. In Hub 3, we are currently recruiting for a full time NCOP Engagement Officer to facilitate work with our partners in London South East Colleges.

Linking London NCOP Outreach Hub Update

The second phase of the Office for Students funded project, the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) has brought with it an exciting second arm of activity, parallel to our targeted work. The London NCOP has been tasked with setting up an ‘Outreach Hub’, primarily aimed at supporting careers staff in London with their efforts to encourage Level 3 learners to consider higher level study.

Linking London’s NCOP Outreach Hub is focussed on working with staff in London further education and sixth form colleges. Our Outreach Hub Officers, Jess Brown and Melanie Brown have been busy visiting a number of partner colleges careers teams and it is becoming clear that there is a great deal of local good practice to be shared across London and nationally. It is also becoming clear that there is a real appetite for the kind of support the Outreach Hub is planning to offer colleges, with a clear desire for helpful resources around clarifying career pathway routes in an ever-changing landscape and externally delivered staff CPD sessions.  London NCOP consortia  have been working closely with our lead institution, Kingston University, on setting up a website for the London Outreach Hub which we hope to be a valuable signposting resource for staff in colleges as well as schools. We are planning to fully launch the site early in the spring term 2020. To find out more about our Linking London Outreach Hub please contact:
