19 December 2018: Bimonthly Sector Specific Labour Market Information Report – Engineering

Linking London’s second bimonthly LMI reports is now out! It focuses on engineering and highlights areas of growth and predicted trends for the future.

Engineering, along with manufacturing, is one of the UK’s broadest sectors and although the engineering sector in London is far behind the national average in terms of the number of employment opportunities it is predicted to increase over the coming years. An industry still dominated by male workers there is lots to be done to encourage more females to enter into engineering as a career and STEM as a whole.

Linking London through the use of a purchased Labour Market Information tool called ‘Analyst’ from EMSI (Economic Modelling Specialist Intelligence) have produced this report as part of its bimonthly subject specific reporting series. The report looks at areas of growth within the sector, predictions for where the jobs will be in the future and looks at what skills and qualifications employees need to get a job within the industry.

The full report, alongside an infographic summarising the key findings, can be found on the partners area of Linking London’s website
