Student Retention and Success Meeting - Webinar
After a warm welcome from Michael Hill he began the meeting with some scene setting. Michael highlighted the recent paper ‘10 simple rules for supporting a temporary online pivot in higher education’ and discussed what a student might ask about your online module and how this may help you plan what you will do.
Emelie Helsen, Mindsets and Skillsets coordinator, Ravensbourne University London then presented to the group on the mindsets and skillsets manifesto at Ravensbourne University including how it was put into practise, what was learnt, challenges and future developments.
Following this, Lisa Westray, Deputy Principal, Strategy & Performance at Haringey Sixth Form College, presented to the group on addressing retention through attendance and engagement. The full presentation is available on the Partner Area of the Linking London website.
After a short comfort break, Sharon Perera, Academic Support Manager & Nicola Mottram, Education Support Manager, University of Greenwich presented to the group on University of Greenwich’s LevelUp transitions skills programme including how it started, participation, engagement, student feedback and what the next steps are.
The meeting closed with a discussion on what the issues partners would like future meetings to explore and bring examples of what universities and colleges are doing to address these issues. What do the group think the issues are that are affecting retention and success.
The next Student Retention and Success meeting will be in the Autumn term in October/November - date and time TBC.
