Event Report – T Level Practitioner Group Meeting
After a warm welcome from the chair Judith O’Neill, Assistant Principal, HE/IOT, Technical and Vocational at HCUC, delegates heard first from Suzanne Hall, Head of Sector Development: Technical and Professional at Pearson who presented to the group on T Level developments including the DfE timeline for rollout, structure of the qualification, grading and UCAS points and any key changes since October 2021. SH also highlighted some 2020 cohort reflections and future thoughts for BTECs from Pearson’s viewpoint.
This was followed by updates from University of Greenwich, Middlesex University and University of Westminster who each gave an overview of HE Admissions Arrangements for T Level Applicants at their institution.
After a short break, a college and university partner update then followed where college partners shared information on delivering and planning to deliver T Levels and universities shared information regarding admissions arrangements and outreach support. Andrew Jones then shared the mapping done of T Level entry requirements at 27 London universities looking at individual provider websites to see the overall information on T Levels and by related subject area and went through each university that either accept or reject T Levels or had no information.
Lastly, the group discussed priorities for future meetings and gave suggestions for possible speakers such as asking someone from the DfE and having a student panel with students currently doing T Levels to speak about how they are finding it
The next T Level Practitioner Group Meeting will be in the Spring term, 5th May, 2-4pm.
