About the National Network of Collaborative Outreach (NNCO)
The National Networks for Collaborative Outreach (NNCO) was a £22 million government funded scheme that ran over the academic years 2014-2015 and 2015-16. The scheme was managed by HEFCE and the aim was to encourage more young people into higher education by brining together universities and further education colleges into local networks to provide coordinated outreach to schools and colleges.
Through the scheme there has been the establishment of 34 local and 3 national networks. In total the scheme has been able to cover 98% of state funded schools and colleges, primarily through the support of each network’s SPOC (Single point of Contact) and developing a website to pull information together.
If you would like to find out more about the national picture, you can go to HEFCE’s website.
Linking London was 1 of the 34 local networks and we worked over the two years with our partners to support all colleges in London. We provided advisers with information, advice and guidance as they worked with their level 3 students supporting progression to higher level learning.
Over the course of the NNCO project Linking London provided workshops and information sessions for advisers, personal statement support and checking for learners, a website dedicated to London advisers, plus resource booklets and guides. We also worked with our university and college partners to develop innovative and collaborative projects funded by their formula funding associated with the NNCO.
