The first BTEC Practitioner Group meeting of the academic year will include an update on BTEC developments from David MacKay, Head of Stakeholder Relationships (HE), Pearson. Attendees will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of two Linking London draft partner resources: a good practice admissions guide for HE staff, as well as an information and advice resource for BTEC applicants to HE.

Rebecca Mameli, Head of Higher Education Research and Qualifications, Higher Education Qualifications, Pearson UK, will also be leading a session on Higher National Diplomas and Certificates. Rebecca will be exploring with the group how we raise awareness of these qualifications as a potential pathway after level 3 as well as updating attendees on the latest news, developments and resources available for learners and staff.

The group will also have an opportunity to explore the potential for a pilot project aimed at BTEC First students to raise awareness of progression pathways onto higher level learning.

This meeting is aimed at HE and FE academic and admissions staff, advisers and widening participation staff and those with a responsibility for induction, retention and success. However, anyone with an interest in BTEC learners and progression to HE is also welcome to attend.
