The third and last Access Practitioner meeting of this academic year will include an update from Marisa Castellini, Head of Access to HE at OCN London, on the latest Access developments and issues affecting the qualification. We will also be exploring with the group priorities for future meetings to address.

At the meeting Susie Wright, Advanced Learning Development Coordinator at Morley College, will be providing a perspective on the progression of Morley Access students into HE over the last two years.

Pam Harrison, Deputy Head of School Head of Section Adult, Community, Health & Social Care at Kingston College, will also be sharing her thoughts on recruitment as well as applications to HE over the year, including challenges faced and lessons learnt in the context of nursing, social work, midwifery and paramedic science. This will be followed by an open discussion on what we might be able to do collectively to both promote Access courses to potential learners and raise the profile of Access qualifications in general.

Attendees will hear from Louise Andronicou, Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions for School of Law & Social Sciences, London South Bank University, who will be providing an overview of an exciting new development to support Access tutors in the delivery of the Extended Project 6-credit unit.

An update on Linking London and OCN London’s online information and advice resource for Access learners intending to progress onto higher education will also be provided, and the group will have an opportunity to feedback on plans to develop this further.

This meeting is aimed at HE and FE academic and admissions staff, advisers and widening participation staff and those with a responsibility for induction and retention and success. However, anyone with an interest in Access to HE Diploma learners and progression to HE is also welcome to attend.
