David MacKay, Head of Stakeholder Relationships (HE), Pearson, will be providing an update, including the latest news on the government’s review of post-16 level 3 and below qualifications in England, which could have significant implications for Applied General Qualifications. David will also be sharing the latest HESA data on the progression of BTEC learners into HE, including data on ethnicity, socio economic background and by region and subject studied, covering a ten year period from 2008-18.

Attendees will also receive an update on T level developments and have the opportunity to discuss the information and advice needs of BTEC learners interested in HE progression.  A  resource developed by Pearson, focussing on supporting BTEC learners to complete the UCAS application form, will also be shared with the group.

Partners, though a roundtable update, will also have the opportunity to share news, issues and good practice as well as hear from Linking London about their work in this area.

This meeting is aimed at HE and FE academic and admissions staff, advisers and widening participation staff and those with a responsibility for induction, retention and success. However, anyone with an interest in BTEC learners and progression to HE is welcome to attend.
