The third and last BTEC Practitioner Group meeting of this academic year will provide an opportunity for practitioners to explore the latest BTEC developments and issues affecting the qualification.

David MacKay, Head of Stakeholder Relationships (HE), Pearson, will be providing an update, including an overview of the government’s review of post-16 level 3 and below qualifications in England, which could have significant implications for Applied General Qualifications.

After a round table update, which will provide attendees with an opportunity to share news, issues and good practice, attendees will hear from Julie Warner, Assistant Principal, Teaching and Learning at Havering Sixth Form College. Julie will be discussing the college’s experience of delivering the new BTEC RQF level 3 qualifications, including challenges and lessons learnt.

At the meeting Linking London will also be leading a group activity based on HE admissions requirements for BTEC applicants for 2020 entry to identify good and poor practice.

This meeting is aimed at HE and FE academic and admissions staff, advisers and widening participation staff and those with a responsibility for induction, retention and success. However, anyone with an interest in BTEC learners and progression to HE is welcome to attend.
