1 February 2018: London NCOP-Linking London Update
January has been a busy month for London-NCOP Linking London. We are delighted to welcome Coulsdon College to our Hub 2 who will collaborate with Linking London and Goldsmiths University to offer a programme of activity to ward learners. We have also been busy working on our Q4 monitoring and financial return to HEFCE, where we provided an update on our progress against our initial operating plan. This has now been submitted and we are awaiting feedback.

3 January 2018: London NCOP-Linking London Update
In December the Linking London NCOP team continued its work in hubs 1 & 2 and held two events – a Christmas event to celebrate the work that has been achieved as part of the NCOP programme and a Brightside training day for aspiring student mentors from our partner universities.

30 November 2017: London NCOP-Linking London Update
In November, London NCOP-Linking London has continued its work in hubs 1 & 2 and continues to plan in Hub 3 in anticipation of starting work there in January. We have met with our Steering Group and have completed the third round of bidding from partners. We are also preparing our next financial and monitoring return for HEFCE which is due in January.

15 November 2017: Event report - BTEC Practitioner Group Meeting
The meeting featured a presentation from David MacKay, Pearson, who provided an update on the ongoing Pearson BTEC National qualification developments and information on the introduction of T Levels. Betty Anyika, University of Sheffield, then presented on the University of Sheffield Alternative Qualifications Project. Following this Hayley Dalton, Pearson, presented on the University of Exeter’s research project findings on the experience and transition from BTEC into degree programmes. Jamie Gillooly, NewVIc, presented on the computer science partnership between NewVIc and London South Bank University. The event concluded with Andrew Jones, Linking London, presentation to the group with comparative research on BTEC entry requirements for 2016/17 and 2017/18.

8 November 2017: Event report – HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting
This meeting featured presentations from Ben Potter, Pearson, on the Higher Nationals Quality Assurance, Liz Kebby-Jones, HEFCE, on the future of HE – the Office for Students (OfS) and TEF, Sue Betts and Naomi Smith, Linking London, on the current picture of College based HE in London and the higher and degree apprenticeships vacancy landscape.

10 October 2017: Event report - Access Practitioner Group
The meeting featured presentations from Marisa Castellini, Head of Access to HE at OCN London, who provided an overview of the current Access to HE Diploma developments. Marisa Castellini and Andrew Jones, Deputy Director of Linking London, then provided an update on Nursing & Midwifery recruitment and admissions tests. This was followed by a presentation from Andrew Jones on higher and degree apprenticeship opportunities in London. Linking London then shared the findings of their Access entry requirements mapping.

The first meeting of the academic year featured presentations from Tim Dhir from Kingston University London on personal statements and Andrew Jones & Naomi Smith, Linking London, who offered insights into the current higher and degree apprenticeships landscape in Greater London.

Over the summer we have been busy developing our work on the NCOP programme. There has been a lot of change in the office over the last months and we now have three new members of staff who joined us in late July and August - Sarah Fisher, our new Programme Office, Michelle Giordmaina, our new NCOP Engagement Officer, and Naomi Smith, our new Graduate Intern.
